Helpful Pre-Care Advice for Dermal fillers

Many of our clients are concerned with having visible signs of dermal filler treatment. There are a few key steps that you can take to minimise visible bruising, swelling, and recover as quickly as possible. The closer that you follow the advice the quicker your recovery.

  1. Avoid blood thinners (e.g. alcohol, aspirin, vitamin E, ibuprofen and some herbal preparations) for 48 hours prior to and 48hours post treatment. Blood thinners can increase the risk of bruising. If you are prescribed aspirin check with your doctor before stopping.

  2. Take arnica tablets as directed 5 days prior to treatment.

Resolving Bruising and Swelling

  1. Hot or cold compress for 15 minutes, repeat several times a day, ideally every 2 hours.

  2. Allergy Relief like Benadryl (containing acrivastine) take as directed.

  3. Arnica cream to help resolve bruising. Apply generously before going to bed.

Dermal Filler Aftercare Advice

Following your treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness, and itching sensation in or around the treated area. This is a normal result following the injection of dermal fillers. This will usually disappear in a few days post treatment but if it continues or you are concerned contact our team.

The initial swelling after lip treatment may last longer, some clients noted swelling for up to two weeks and the lips can look uneven during this period. The result immediately after treatment should not be seen as the final result, clients should wait until full recovery to realise this.

Avoid touching the treatment area for at least 6-8 hours. After 8 hours the area can be washed gently and dried. Avoid make-up for as long as possible. Wear light mineral make up if needed 6-8 hours after.

If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another cold sore.

If you are using medication that thins the blood e.g. aspirin or similar medication, be aware that these can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

Avoid sunbathing or sun beds for 48 hours following treatment as well as extreme cold environments.

Avoid strenuous exercise for a few days, but can continue with light cardio.

Wait for a minimum of four weeks before skin care or laser treatments.


Helpful Pre-Care and aftercare Advice for Non surgical Eye Bag Removal (Tear Trough Filler)

There are a few possible side effects to eye trough fillers can occur, including redness, swelling and bruising but this is usually mild and will resolve in a matter of days. The most common side effect is bruising, which can be easily covered with makeup.

Don’t consume excessive alcohol for 24 hours

Don’t do any aerobic exercises for 24 hours after the procedure

If you get any bruising, apply ice and arnica cream if available. Mineral based makeup can be applied following treatment.

AAvoid sun-beds and saunas for 4-6 days after the procedure.


Helpful Pre-Care Advice for PPC Lipolysis & Aqualyx

There are a few possible side effects when having the PPC or Aqualyx treatment, clients can experience swelling, numbness, bruising, tenderness, redness and itchiness around the injected area, which will normally subside in 2 - 4 weeks. Some clients may get temporary hard lumps in the treated area the length of time is dependent on the individual, possibly 2 weeks to 2 months.

Clients can help to reduce the possibility of side effects, for 5-7 days prior to treatment avoiding

  • Alcohol

  • Garlic

  • Ginger

  • Gingko

  • Anti inflammatory (NSAID)

  • Aspirin

  • Vitamin E

We recommend for our clients to eat a light meal or snack one hour before treatment, bring or wear loose fittied clothing or wear supported clothing for the treated area. We provide supports for submental (neck) area.

PPC & Aqualyx Lipolysis Aftercare Advice

Immediately following treatment ice area or cold compress from 2-4 hours to minimise pain discomfort.

Do not massage area for 48 hours, no aspirin or NSAIDS or alcohol for 24 hours.

Avoid exercise for 6 hours.

General recovery takes 5 to 14 days but this may differ from client to client. clients can expect permanent fat reduction provided that the client maintains body weight and lifestyle. 2-4 treatments maybe needed for the desired effect, 4 weeks between each treatment.


Helpful Pre and post Care Advice for Anti Wrinkle treatment

Treatment takes around 15 minutes to complete and the effects of the treatment can take up to 14 days however clients can normally see the first effects from three to five days. At the time of treatment there can be slight swelling at the point of injection but this will normally settle within an hour. There is minimal risk of bruising.

If you are experiencing pain or discomfort post treatment take paracetamol as directed. Any concerns contact our team for advice. All of our clients receive a post treatment care leaflet following treatment.

It is best to wait 14 days for any facial treatments, laser or microdermabrasion after treatment and avoid sunbeds for 7 days.

Treatment will last 10-12 weeks in most clients and will gradually ware off and clients should contact for further treatment as needed.

After treatment continue to use normal facial expressions and avoid the following activities for 24 hours.

  • Rubbing or massaging the face

  • laying down (avoid for at least 4 hours post procedure)

  • Vigorous exercise

  • Anti-inflammatory painkillers

  • smoking or drinking alcohol

  • Hot showers, baths or hot tubs
